Freddie’s MBS Market Share Is Down For Second Straight Month in February

Freddie Mac is having a tougher time than expected shaking off mortgage security pricing problems that have dramatically reduced the government-sponsored enterprise’s share of new fixed-rate MBS production. According to MBS numbers released last week, Freddie’s share of the GSE market in February sank to just 31 percent. That was close to a record low and down from January’s already dismal market share
