Jumbo MBS Issuance Falters in Second Quarter; Market Led by Top Lenders

The securitization of jumbo mortgage loans over the Fannie/Freddie conforming loan limit slumped 3.4 percent in the second quarter, as industry-wide issuance responded to a slowing mortgage origination environment. Total jumbo securitizations – including traditional prime jumbo deals as well as the large loans included in subprime and Alt A issues – sank from $44.59 billion in the first quarter to $43.06 billion
