Wholesale production activity accounted for a hefty 64.7 percent of total mortgage originations during the first nine months of 2001, according to a new market analysis and ranking by Inside Mortgage Finance. That left retail lending units with a 35.3 percent share of the estimated $1.46 trillion in home mortgages generated by the boom market of 2001.
