Mortgage bankers last week applauded the Senate’s timely passage of flood insurance reform legislation, which would extend the National Flood Insurance Program through September 2009. The Senate action may still avoid a repeat of 2002 when Congress adjourned for the year without extending for another year the NFIP, which was scheduled to shut down on Dec. 31.
