Mortgage lenders will not participate in any future talks about Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act reform that does not involve guaranteed mortgage packaging. A top official of the Mortgage Bankers Association made the industry’s position clear in response to a plan by the National Association of Realtors to focus future mortgage reform discussions on the good-faith estimate portion of the controversial RESPA reform rule the Bush administration withdrew back in March.
