The Bush administration cautioned federal regulators against writing overly broad regulations implementing the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act that could be too burdensome for financial institutions. Assistant Treasury Secretary Wayne Abernathy on Feb. 10 indicated that FACT rules might cause lenders to issue adverse-action notices more frequently than they would like.
