California. State Attorney General Bill Lockyer has sued a Florida-based marketing firm that pretended to conduct lending surveys in order to pitch refinancing products to California consumers, in violation of national “do not call” laws. The complaint filed in federal district court in Sacramento on Jan. 12 alleged that L.M.A. Marketing, doing business as Mortgage Concepts, placed automated calls to consumers to participate in a survey. In a pre-recorded message, the company asked consumers
