The Treasury Department went on record this week as opposing the direct issuance of mortgage backed securities by any of the 12 Federal Home Loan Banks, but the Bush administration apparently doesn’t have a problem with the Shared Funding program – which uses FHLBank-acquired mortgages as collateral for non-agency securitizations issued by a member company.
