The Federal Housing Finance Board last week agreed to draft regulations that would require the Federal Home Loan Banks to have at least one public interest director with financial expertise serving on their boards. A public interest director savvy in financial markets, derivatives and complex mortgage instruments serving at any time would ensure “continuity of corporate governance” at each of the 12 FHLBank boards, according to the FHFB.
