New York City regulators have proposed legislation that would thrust securities underwriters into the middle of the predatory lending debate, and could force changes in their business practices. "We’re putting predatory lenders on notice that their days of scamming New Yorkers are numbered," said New York City Comptroller Alan Hevesi of a bill, AB 9137, that would deny city and state business to companies involved in predatory lending.
