Wholesale lenders were responsible for the majority of new subprime loans generated in 2000, a new Inside B&C Lending analysis of the market reveals. But there are indications that retailers are picking up steam. Overall, wholesalers accounted for 64 percent of the estimated $140 billion in new subprime mortgages generated last year. But while the sector as a whole continued to dominate, neither brokers nor correspondents alone were quite able to overtake retailers for
