Mortgage Originations Slow Modestly in Rapidly Changing Market of Early 2012

Mortgage lenders large, small and in-between jockeyed for position against a backdrop of slowing new home loan originations during the first quarter of 2012. A new Inside Mortgage Finance market analysis and ranking found that an estimated $385.0 billion in new single-family mortgages were originated during the first three months of the year. That was down 3.8 percent from the fourth quarter.
