Rating Agency Bill Prompts Calls for GSE Reform Vote

A Senate committee markup last week of a bill only tangentially related to the GSEs turned into a tiff over reform legislation for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. At the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee markup of the “Credit Rating Agency Duopoly Relief Act,” Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-NE, proposed two amendments requiring closer scrutiny of Fannie and Freddie by rating services.
