Need for Tougher PL Protections Could Put RESPA on Trading Block

Talks about a possible RESPA reform tradeoff for a stronger national anti-predatory lending bill have surfaced at a recent conference hosted by the Real Estate Service Providers Council. Although many say the possibility of a tradeoff occurring is almost nil, some industry attorneys say it could happen. In fact, consumers groups, with their intense desire for stronger consumer protection against lending abuses, could be the chief instigators, they add.
