The inspector general at the Department of Housing and Urban Development has recommended that the FHA begin collecting and tracking borrowers’ FICO scores and use their loan performance history in underwriting mortgages. In a new audit that studied Fair Isaac & Co. credit scores on 1,180 randomly selected FHA single-family loans between Oct. 1, 1997, and March 31, 2001, HUD’s inspector general found borrowers with subprime loans
