Community bankers are asking federal financial regulators to change a rule that requires the use of state licensed or certified appraisers for mortgages of more than $250,000. America’s Community Bankers has asked the regulators to tie the appraisal threshold to the prevailing conventional loan purchase limit of the secondary market companies, rather than issuing periodic revisions to the threshold.
