Industry Pressure Forces FCC to Delay Fax Rule’s Effective Date
August 25, 2003
Under pressure from the mortgage industry and various businesses, the Federal Communications Commission has agreed to extend the effective date of a final rule that restricts fax communications between businesses. The FCC early last week announced that it has moved the rule’s effective date from Aug. 25, 2003, to Jan. 1, 2005, to give heavy fax users time to comply with the new consent requirements.
