FEMA’s Joint Effort Aims at Boosting Insurance Renewals

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is working with federal banking regulators and secondary market participants to find ways to improve lenders’ ability to monitor flood insurance retention and renewal rates. FEMA, which administers the government’s federal flood insurance program, is concerned about data that show a significant number of borrowers who may be in violation of flood insurance placement requirements.
