FTC Seeks Changes in Rules on Class Action Procedures

The Federal Trade Commission last month called for greater scrutiny of class action attorney fees and coupon settlements to ensure that injured consumers and potential class members are fully protected under federal rules. The agency raised both issues in response to proposed reforms that were issued for comment by the Judicial Conference of the United States in August last year. The U.S. Judicial Conference is the principal policy-making body for the federal court system.
