The Federal Trade Commission will step up efforts to ensure that consumers are notified when an adverse credit report results in a denial of credit. Credit reporters also will be monitored closely to ensure they are reporting consumers’ credit information accurately and in a timely manner. The initiative is part of a privacy enforcement plan announced by FTC Chairman Timothy Muris at the agency’s privacy conference in Cleveland earlier this month.
