Chicago Activist Dead at 72, Prime Mover of 1977 CRA

Community advocate Gale Cincotta was laid to rest August 18 in the Chicago suburb of Elmwood, about 15 miles from the neighborhood where she began her activism. Cincotta, known as the "Mother of the Community Reinvestment Act" and for her no-holds-barred confrontational style, died of natural causes at the Loyola University Medical Center in suburban Maywood on August 15. She was 72.
