California teachers and first-time homebuyers are finding affordable homes under two separate homeownership programs with either a zero-downpayment feature or a municipal downpayment assistance programs. A no-downpayment mortgage loan program for California public school teachers has exceeded expectations by topping $140 million in less than a year, according to partners Freddie Mac and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System.
