Class Action Claim Brought Against IL Subprime Lender

A class action complaint has been filed in Illinois federal district court against a major subprime lender and a mortgage brokerage firm for allegedly overcharging for real estate settlement services and "hiding" the overpayment from borrowers. First Franklin Financial Corp., a subprime wholesale lender subsidiary of National City Corp., and Illinois Mortgage Consultants, Inc., were charged with violation of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act in connection with a home-loan refinancing.
