Freddie Restatements Are Not Bad News, Just Simply Following Rules, Analysts Say

Freddie Mac this week announced plans to restate earnings for 2000, 2001 and 2002 as a result of market-value adjustments to certain hedged transactions arising from the implementation of Statement of Financial Accounting Standard No. 133. The announcement sent anxious ripples across Wall Street, where news of a “restatement” is generally received with a bit of alarm.
